Andrea Dolter received her BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2014 where she studied printmaking and drawing. With a life-long interest in textiles and fiber, Dolter’s “self-taught” textile practice is combined with her more formal fine arts education, leading to work that marries developed skills with intuition. Her work is an unconventional take on traditional craft mediums, materials, and processes. Dolter has found a niche in her professional life of operating vintage clothing brands, To Hell and Back and Sardines Vintage Collective, that coincides with a clothing repair service that specializes in repairing the most well loved of garments. Dolter has taken the sentimentality of wear, tear, and repair and melded it with her art practice in her latest works.

Andrea currently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and works from her studio at Var Gallery & Studios.
